‘Mutiny’ Review: HMS Statham - We Live Entertainment

Chances are, regardless of reviews, a reader has already made up their mind about whether they plan to seek out a new Jason Statham action film. Making presumptions about one’s audience is not really something one should practice out loud. Still, I do have to wonder what several hundred words about Mutiny are going to accomplish for someone perhaps on the fence. I would say this film features the rawest version of what a Statham-led vehicle has to offer. This is a very straightforward revenge story, with only a few major players, and enough creative fights and violence to show why Statham has maintained his status as a reliable action star. As a no-nonsense action flick, Mutiny is here to give audiences what they want, no more, no less. Statham stars as Cole Reed, a former cop-turned-bodyguard for a wealthy and well-meaning shipping magnate (Ramon Tikaram). An ambush leads to his boss/friend dying, and Cole now wants vengeance. While some flimsy evidence attempts to paint Cole as the bad guy, a few clues lead him to become a stowaway on a cargo ship, only for him to discover a human trafficking situation taking place.
